A Review of Paradise: The Hyatt Vivid Grand Island in Cancun

Along the sun-kissed shores of Mexico, a new haven for luxury awaits travelers seeking a peaceful getaway. The resort opened its doors on April 1 this year, and I had the pleasure of experiencing this delightful resort from May 2-5. While a few things need to be worked on, my experience was still nothing short of peaceful and enjoyable.

One of the standout features of this resort is its rooftop pool, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view that is perfectly positioned for sunset viewing every evening. Whether lounging in the water or sipping cocktails by the edge, each sunset was a moment that added an extra awe to my stay.

Despite having 11 restaurants on site, food was an area where the resort could improve. The dining experience was varied; not all restaurants were open simultaneously, operating on a rotating schedule. While the food options, in my opinion, weren't the absolute best, I found the breakfast buffet particularly pleasing as there were so many options to choose from. Having a dinner buffet would have been a great addition to the resort.

Despite its tranquil ambiance, the resort wasn't absent of activity. Each night offered a different event, even at the pool area ensuring there was always something to enjoy before and after dinner. Between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., the resort settled into a quieter vibe, making it clear that this wasn't a destination for those seeking a lively, party-centric atmosphere past midnight. It was said that as time goes by, things will change as this resort is still brand new and has yet to reach full capacity.

While this is not a beachfront resort,  the beach was only four minutes away and the resort offered shuttles that ran every 10 minutes to and from. The beach offers a beach club that is free of charge and also has a restaurant that is a part of the all-inclusive experience.

Throughout my stay, the warmth and hospitality of the staff stood out. They were attentive, ensuring every need was met and every comfort attended to. Special mentions go to Diego, the amazing photographer whose kindness left a lasting impression on my friend and me, and Eric, the skilled bartender who crafted memorable mimosas and cocktails.

The resort offers three pools, two of which feature a swim-up bar, an ideal setting for unwinding with a drink while enjoying the sun. Whether opting for a swim-up bar or the more refined lobby and Advantage Club bars, each venue offered a unique charm. The Advantage Club bar came with an extra price, but also extra drink options. My overall experience at this resort was nothing short of exceptional. With its stunning rooftop pool and attentive service, it easily earns a solid 8/10 from me.

It's worth noting an amusing aspect, despite my friend and I not resembling each other in the slightest, we were often mistaken for twin sisters by the friendly staff—a not-so-flattering quirk as this came off to be because we were people of color.

If you're in search of a relaxing escape rather than a party-centric vacation, this resort is an ideal choice.
