The theme of the gala was “Press Forward: Persevering in Times of Change”. The gala was hosted by CBS News National Correspondent and Anchor Jericka Duncan and Maurice Dubois, Anchor at CBS New York.

Over 100 people bought tickets for the event and attended the high-profile event, journalism luminaries such as the President of ABC News Debra OConnell, Dyana Williams who received the chapter’s first annual Lifetime Achievement Award and journalists from CBS News, The NY Times, Bloomberg and others.

During the cocktail hour guests were serenaded by violinist, The Hip Hop Diva and during the ceremony and dinner enjoyed DJ Mike Major on the 1s and 2s. Juneteenth is a time for celebrations Black Americans because it represents freedom from enslavement - and the entire event made sure to showcase Black Excellence.

“We are thrilled to host this sell out event and are thankful to all those who attended,” said NYABJ President Bonita Sostre.
