With October behind us, it would be a crime to leave Brooklyn's Oktoberfest in the rearview without savoring its unforgettable flavors.
This special series of events hosts popular night markets and other experiences throughout New York City. One of the most well-known of these food fests is in the Night Market of Industry City.
Nestled in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, Industry City spans 35 acres and hosts some of the city’s most popular experiences. It fosters a community of nearly 550 companies, ranging from design and interior decoration to music stores, small businesses, restaurants, bookshops, retail shops, office spaces, and more. It offers a space where people can create whatever they’d like. With stunning artwork and a beautiful campus, Industry City is a place you simply can’t miss.
While Industry City hosts a variety of events throughout the year, its spectacular Night Market features over 50 diverse vendors offering foods from all corners of the world. Attracting upwards of 6,000 guests annually, this bustling food paradise has plenty to satisfy adventurous palates. For New York's nearly 1.5 million Muslims, finding food events we can enjoy can be a challenge. I’m pleased to report that this event offered excellent halal-friendly options and many other worthy finds!
Without further ado, let's dive into my top picks.
Lemak Malaysian Kitchen

This halal-friendly stall was presented by Kesh Dhami, representing Lemak Kitchen from Long Island City. They've participated in the Ramadan market before, and this is their first year being sponsored at the Night Market, bringing three years of experience serving halal food inspired by Malaysian cuisine.
"There just aren't enough halal options," Kesh says. "We're excited to bring our skills and halal cuisine to the table here at the market."

I tried the Lemak Burger and their chicken satay—both specialties at this stall. Each dish had its own unique charm, from the chicken satay appetizer to the satisfying flavors packed into the Lemak Burger. This delicious burger features beef wrapped in egg, topped with mayo, cheese sauce, and a "secret sauce" that adds a spicy kick (fair warning: it's a bit messy, so have napkins on hand!).
To wash it down, try their signature drink, Mango Madness, made with tapioca, coconut milk, and delicious pieces of mango fruit and puree. All in all, for the price, it was a comforting and satisfying meal!
Carnival Dreams
If you've had your fill of the many stalls serving barbecue, Mexican, Caribbean, and Asian foods, it might be time for something sweet. Why not check out Carnival Dreams?
This New York-based vegan/vegetarian restaurant serves unique foods designed to feel magical and capture the vibe of a carnival—and they certainly deliver with their bright decor and bubbly service!

Their expansive menu received many compliments from customers, especially for the classic funnel cakes and deep-fried Oreos! According to their sign, the funnel cakes are made with spelt flour, making them vegan-friendly. I could barely reach the stall due to the long line, but if you visit the Night Market, keeping an eye out for this bright spot will be worth your while.
Other experiences offered at the event
Once you've filled up and enjoyed the DJ's music and explored the spooky Halloween decorations across Industry City, you might wonder what else there is to see before the night ends. Beyond the wide selection of drinks and the diverse community that gathers for these events, you can also support small businesses selling jewelry, essential oils, charms, and more!

While it's surprising that the market offers more than just food, it's a testament to the diverse selection of goods available! I spent over an hour debating whether to buy some of the gorgeous pieces I found. Many of the businesses hosted at Industry City are self-made, and they’re always eager to help you find something perfect. You can find all their socials listed below.
There are plenty of other stands and businesses to explore at the Night Market in Industry City, but I can promise you’ll leave with a full stomach and a satisfied soul (not to mention a camera roll full of great memories). Happy food finding!
