On The Scene: Harlem Fine Arts Show Brings Out Art Dealers And Shoppers

By Stephanie Woods

New York Association of Black Journalists members were invited to volunteer this year for the 2024 Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS), during our 'Black History Month of Service.'

The HFAS is said to have a 15-year history of showcasing "fine art from the finest artists to your local designer of the 'African Diaspora.'"

The exhibit typically includes the best art, drawing art dealers, admirers, and "window shoppers" each year. The exhibition has a structured calendar of events to support retirees, students, businesses, and celebrities with a 'Red Dot' opening night special access viewing.

Each year, the exhibition develops new supportive strategies for artists, and finds innovative ways to assist "freelancers, mainstream press, students, and corporate sponsors."

When the exhibition comes to town, all can find ways to benefit.

According to founder  Dion Clark, the three-day celebration has always been a pipeline to bring African and Caribbean cultures together to showcase and sell their art to gallerists and collectors, and educate the general public on starting the hobby or career of art collecting.
